DETAILS OF PROCEDURE
FOR ENTRY IN SEPTEMBER 2005
At 11+ :
The Entrance Examination will take place on Saturday,
January 22nd 2005 . Application forms
are available from the School.
Music Scholarship auditions and Chorister voice trials
will take place on Friday, January 28 th 2005 . .
At 13+ :
The Entrance Examination will take place also on Saturday,
January 22nd 2005 . Music Scholarship
auditions will be held on Monday, January 31 st
2005 .
At 16+ :
Individual appointments made for prospective pupils and
their parents. There will also be an OPEN EVENING on
Thursday, 4 th November 2004 . The Academic Scholarship examination
and Music Scholarship auditions will take place on 1
st and 2 nd February respectively.
VISITING THE SCHOOL
Regular tours on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.15am with the
Head Master in small groups.
By individual appointment.
For Sixth form entry, we hope that prospective applicants
will spend a morning at school sampling lessons

SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND FEES
ACADEMIC:
3 Scholarships, each up to a value of 50% of the fees, are
awarded annually for academic potential, 1 at 11+, 13+ and
16+ (non means-tested) and 1 of 20% at 11+ awarded by The
Cathedralians’ Society.
MUSIC:
5 Scholarships, each up to a value of 50% of the fees, are
awarded annually for musical potential, 2 at 11+, 1 at 13+
and 2 at 16+ (non means-tested)
Instrumental awards may also be made towards the tuition
fees on one or two instruments (means-tested).
CHORAL:
5 Choral Scholarships are available for Cathedral Choristers.
The Choral Foundation awards half-fees scholarships during
a chorister’s time in the Choir, provided he serves
for no less than three years. This then reduces to £650
per annum up until the age of 16. The School offers additional
awards according to individual needs.
Members of the Cathedral Girls’ Choir may join the
School at 16+ with an Award.
BURSARIES:
The School has Bursary Funds available to offer financial
support for pupils whose parents could not otherwise afford
the fees. Applicants for such awards are required to fill
in a Statement of Income form. Bursaries are awarded on the
basis of need, the pupil’s particular strengths (eg
art, drama, sport), and performance in the Entrance Examination.
They are reviewed annually.
FEES:
The fee from September 2004 is £2,496 per term. Lunches
and individual instrumental music lessons are extra.
