Thank you for visiting us. You can have a
very brief virtual tour by looking at the rest of the page
below. You'll see more if you make an appointment to come
and see us in person. There are regular tours on Tuesdays
and Fridays at 9.15am with the Head in small groups. Don't
forget the taster
days coming up next term. |

Have a look at some of the 'extras'.
What's happening now? |
 |
On
the left is the Cathedral Chapter House. The school
has four Houses, which are Priors, Deans, Canons and Abbotts.
There is a lot of rivalry between the Houses! Priors House
meets in here every Thursday morning for House Prayers.
|
On
the right is the entrance to the Deanery. Originally the
Dean's home this now has a refurbished Library and classrooms,
one of which is a computer room. The Library is open
from 8am to 5pm and has a small computer suite as well
as a good stock of books. All resources are held on a
database which is accessible throughout the school.

 |
The
entrance to the Lower Quad is shown on the right. Lucky to
still be here after a bomb landed in it during the 2nd World
War (and failed to go off!) |
 |
Walking
in the Lower Quad heading for Palliser Martin, which houses
Music and Science. The Lower Quad is a favourite place for
football at break. |

The
above pictures give an indication of some of the older parts
of the school. However, there is also 'Trinity' which
is a 3 story building built in the 1960's which contains the
Classics and Humanities Faculty. The picture on the left
shows Trinity viewed from Anchor Road. |
|
From
the Deanery we can move along behind Bristol Central Library
to The Studio, which is shown below. In contrast to
all of our other buildings this was designed and built in the
1990's. There
is an excellent Drama Studio (The Fortune Theatre) together
with Art and Design Technology in this building, all with the
latest facilities. |
 |
The
Fortune Theatre entrance.
The
theatre is regularly used to give a variety of performances
by staff and pupils. These range from the annual pantomine
to excellent productions of Shakespeare. The theatre is designed
for flexibility both with its staging and seating.
The
theatre is also used by local groups. |
Bristol
Cathedral School is a fascinating mixture of ancient and historical
to ultra modern.
Pupils
are privileged to be taught in buildings that survived the dissolution
of the monasteries, but have been carefully adapted to provide
the latest modern technological teaching aids. Other
lessons take place in Trinity, built in the 1960's, or they may move
to the Fortune Theatre with its high tech systems.
The DT department is teaching Electronics and Control Systems in
another part of the Studio!
One
essential part of the school is Cafe Panache! Pop in and have a
look at it here.
