Pupils, staff and parents at Bristol Cathedral School
have all combined to raise around £2,100 for
tsunami relief.
Over the last three weeks, sixth-formers at the independent
school have taken the lead in organising and co-ordinating
a range of fund-raising activities.
Events held included:
- Non-uniform day for the whole school - raising £800
- PTA Quiz Night – raised more than £300
- Cake sale – raised £340, outstripping
all previous cake sales held at the school
- Lunchtime – raised £85
- A raffle and auction organised by sixth-formers
brought in around £500.
The school’s new Head, Mrs Anne Davey, said: “ Bristol
Cathedral School has a long tradition of raising money
for charity, but the speed and determination with which
pupils have raised funds for the tsunami appeal has
been quite unprecedented.
“As a faith-based school, we have always encouraged
our pupils to play their part in making the world a
better place, so it is heartening to see that principle
in action. I would like to congratulate everyone who
has contributed, including our Head of Sixth Form,
Simon I’Anson."
