A
TEACHER at Bristol Cathedral School wowed
pupils and parents with his passion for
jazz and swing when he gave a solo performance. Modern
languages teacher Mark Etherington showed
off his musical talents at a special
concert held at the school's Fortune
Theatre. And he invited top trad
jazz" band the Catte Street Rhythm Wreckers,
from Wolverhampton, to headline the concert,
called Swing and All That Jazz.
Mr
Etherington is a former professional
musician who toured in Europe and has
played at famous venues, such as Bristol's
Old Duke pub He said: "I really hope
that this event will help raise the profile
of jazz and swing in Bristol by bringing
it to a new, younger audience." The evening's
programme included music by jazz greats
such as Duke Ellington and Sonny Rollins.
