Fashion Rocks at Bristol Cathedral School

Sixth-formers will strut their stuff on the catwalk next week in a special fashion show as part of Bristol Cathedral School’s annual Charities Week.

Pupils will model outfits ranging from the wonderful to the downright weird, all designed by their classmates.

And young musicians at the school, which is more commonly associated with classical music, will make sure the evening goes with a swing by providing reggae, jazz, rock and Motown sounds.

The school's Head of Girls, Miss Kate Welham, said: "This entire project was the brainchild of our Head Girl, Issy Quinn, who has organised the evening jointly with another pupil, Ben Wheale, to provide a platform for sixth-formers interests and creativity. All the students have put a great deal of time and energy into the show."

The outfits created by the eight sixth-form designers for the event, Fashion Rocks at BCS, have been given names ranging from Androgyny and Australia and Rags to Riches and Modern Man. Students from the nearby City of Bristol College site will be providing make-up for the models.

Issy, 17, explained why she chose a fashion show as a charity fund-raiser: "I was trying to think of something original to do that would bring in a female element and really involve the girls."

Part of the proceeds from the fashion show will be go to the Mukti Ashram – a centre for children in Delhi that the school has supported for some years.
