AS and A2 qualifications are examined through AQA
examining board.
This popular subject requires an ability to analyse
and interpret figures and therefore requires a good
mathematics grade at GCSE. It further investigates
the theories of economics and applies them to today's
economy.
A full specification is available on the AQA website
(www.aqa.org.uk)
Units include the study and investigation of Market
and Market Failure, The National Economy, which looks
at the issues of unemployment, inflation, economic
growth and the balance of payments. The third unit
studies Markets at Work, these include the Housing
Market and Environmental economics. Assessment is through
examination and coursework.
The course textbook is Anderton AG. Economics, Causeway
Press 2000(3rd Edition) but other useful
references include the Economics Review, a quarterly
publication published by Philip Alan Updates. Further
excellent references, such as www.tutor2u.net,
exist on the internet.
It is a further requirement that students are familiar
with current Economic affairs particularly 'The Environment'
and economic markets, such as Housing, as these are
an integral part of the course. |
