PHSE at BCS
PHSE Co-ordinator Dr
S Pearce
PHSE is considered to include all aspects of school
life, from day to day relationships in the tutor group,
through assemblies, sport, lessons and lectures to
field trips, camps and activities. We aim to promote
self esteem and confidence which we believe will lead
to the development of respect for self and others.
Weekly PHSE
Lessons
in Years 7 & 8 are taught by the form tutor with
the use of outside speakers and other staff members
where appropriate. In Year 9 and above formal PHSE
is usually delivered by the PHSE co-ordinator or
by an outside specialist.
The school aims to provide a caring, friendly and
safe environment for all students so that they can
learn in a relaxed and secure manner. A peer support
scheme is run by Years 12 and 13, providing sympathetic
understanding and support for anyone who feels they
may need it.
