The opportunities for making music at the Cathedral
school are many and varied. Whether you are a musician
who is already involved in the music of the school,
an incoming student from another school wishing to
throw yourself into the new activities offered in a
different environment or whether you would like to
start your musical career in the sixth form there will
be something on offer which will present a new challenge
or create some variety and stimulation for you in your
school life.
Bristol Cathedral School has a long and proud tradition
of music making at the School. Choristers have been
educated for over 800 years and musical endeavour stands
at the very heart of its foundation. Music is stronger
now then at any other point in its history. It boasts
numerous choirs, orchestras, jazz groups, rock bands
and chamber ensembles. All of which perform to a highly
regarded and in some cases, nationally acclaimed level.
It is a place where musical creativity in all its aspects
is encouraged and it is above all, a place where students
grow to have a deeper understanding, enjoyment and
love of this very special subject.
Music making is best enjoyed with other people. Below are some of the activities on offer at the school.
Please feel free to come along and try out any of the
ensembles.
